MARS

(Minute Agenda Report System)

Welcome to MARS, North Lanarkshire Council's online system whereby you can easily view the Council's minutes, agendas, reports and notices. All of these documents are published in PDF format. Although these documents can all be downloaded free of charge, you should be aware that, due to their size, some may take some time to download and open.

What is on the system?

All of North Lanarkshire Council's minutes from 1995 and all agendas, reports and notices from 2001 are currently available for viewing. In addition, work is currently being undertaken with a view to publishing all agendas, reports and notices from 1995 to 2001. Following that exercise some of the latter minutes of the former Motherwell, Monklands and Cumbernauld and Kilsyth District Councils will also be published.

How do I view documents?

The system has a very powerful Search Engine that will search for a word or phrase contained within any of the published documents, and which can be accessed by clicking the "Search" icon at the top of the page. The Search page itself contains various fields (some with drop down choice lists) which can be used to reduce the number of "hits" per search. Searches are not case sensitive if entered in either all lower or all upper case. However, searches are case sensitive if entered in mixed case. There is also a Library facility, which can be accessed by clicking the "Library" icon at the top of the page. The Library is organised into different "Sections", one for each type of document i.e. minute, agenda, report and notice. Each "Section" contains various "Shelves", one for each Committee, Sub-Committee etc. with each "Shelf" containing a "Folder" for each individual year. Again the Library is very easy to navigate. It should be noted that, when you are viewing an agenda, the heading of each agenda item is linked to the corresponding Committee report. Merely click the heading to view the report. After viewing the report click the "Back" button at the top of the page to return to the agenda. Finally, at the top of some agendas, you may find a small yellow note pad which, when opened, will contain information on an item(s) that may have been added or deleted from an agenda following its publication.
